Our Mission Statement
H.U.G.S. is a collaborative effort providing activities for youth
that have experienced the death of a family member or friend. H.U.G.S.
offers a place to meet other people that are going through a similar
situation, a place to talk about the person who died, a place to laugh
and cry, have fun, and remember the person they love.
The camp is for children and teens, age 5 and up,
teens and their families. Our ninth annual
grief camp will be held on:
Saturday, June 14, 2008
9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Lincoln Children’s Zoo
1222 S 27nd Street
Lincoln, NE
About Us
H.U.G.S. celebrated it’s eight year of serving youth, teens and
their families in 2005. Over the past six years we have touched
the lives of over 600 youth, adults and volunteers.
H.U.G.S. Planning Committee includes the following organizations:
AseraCare Hospice, Charlie Brown’s Kids, CrossRoads Psychotherapy
Centre, PC, Hospice of Tabitha, Lincoln Children’s Zoo, and Lincoln
Parks and Recreation.
Each year we hold this special one day camp focused on helping families
through the grieving process, assisting youth with understanding more
about the ‘Circle of Life’, giving participates the opportunity to
express themselves and their feelings, and to teach each of them
that having a variety of emotions and feelings, whether it is
happy or sad throughout the day, is natural.
